Sometimes, you just have to take it a day at a time
Jun 1 2015. One of my favourite pastimes is photography. There’s something rewarding about capturing a moment or a memory, creating something which is aesthetically pleasing or which triggers an emotion. The second time I travelled to Munich for a research internship, photography became my crutch. I had travelled by myself, so most afternoons when I finished work I would find myself feeling quite alone in a big and beautiful city, and because of the time difference, all my friends and family at home in Sydney were sleeping.
About half way through my trip, I decided I needed a project to keep me occupied in the afternoons and decide to take a photo a day. I called it #nataliegeographic. It really kept me entertained, roaming the city to find the perfect shot which i would then post online for my family and Aussie friends to wake up to the next morning. My family at home were captivated by it, logging in every day to see what I had seen or done, and my German friends even started to contribute their own photos from things they’d seen around the city. Now when i look back on the photos it reminds me of some really good times – 25 photos detailing the 25 last days of my trip.
